AHRI releases October water heater shipment data

Arlington, Va. — Residential electric water heater shipments for October totaled 332,468, a 1.1 percent drop from the same month a year ago. Residential gas water heater shipments totaled 287,976, an 8.7 percent decrease compared with shipments for the same month last year. For the year-to-date, about 3.4 million residential gas water heaters have been shipped, a 5.8 percent drop compared with the same period a year ago. For the year-to-date, about 3.6 million residential electric storage water heaters have been shipped, a 2.2 percent drop compared to the same period last year.

Commercial gas water heater shipments for October totaled 6,071, dropping 21 percent compared with the same month last year, while commercial electric water heater shipments totaled 5,374, a 12.2 percent drop compared with the same month a year ago. For the year-to-date, commercial electric water heater shipments (59,550) are 6.3 percent ahead of total shipments of this product during the same period last year (55,999). Commercial gas water heater shipments (77,173) for the year-to-date are up 4.7 percent, compared with the same period a year ago (73,676).
