Smith Stainless Drain Series
Floor Drains - Floor Sinks - Cleanouts - Trench Drains

Jay R. Smith Mfg. Co. celebrates 80 years of commitment to the mechanical engineering and contracting communities with the introduction of the Smith Stainless Drain Series; engineered stainless steel plumbing and drainage products designed for functionality for todays hygienic requirements.

The Ultimate Material
There is scarcely a material in existence that has found its way to so many applications as stain-less steel. Developed in the early part of the 20th century, stainless steel is an exceptional choice for todays sanitary applications and corrosive environments.

Stainless steel is the generic name for a number of different steels used primarily because of their cor-rosion resistance. All stainless steels share a minimum percentage of 10.5% chromium. Chromium is always the deciding factor, although other elements, particularly nickel and molybde-num, are added to improve corrosion resistance.

In many cases stainless steel is the most cost efficient solution because of enhanced life cycle costs. Stainless steel has a significantly lon-ger service life and requires less maintenance than other materials. Moreover, stainless steel is fully recyclable and has a high scrap value on de-commissioning.

The inherent durability of stainless steel makes it an ideal material for floor drains, floor sinks, floor cleanouts and trench drains regardless of the application. Stainless steel, with its intrinsic gratifying appearance, is perfect for facilities where hygienics and visibility are inherent, as well as, applications dealing with chemicals, detergents, and other destructive effluents. Stainless steel offers a superior sanitary surface which is the reason why it is standard for commercial kitchens and other environments where hygiene is paramount.

The Products
Stainless steel is strong and ductile as compared to plastic and Hi-Sil iron, making it ideal for floor drains, floor sinks, floor cleanouts, and trench drain applications. All of our cast and fabricated stainless steel drains are made of type 304 stainless steel, or 316 stainless steel (when specified).

9600 Series Made from fabricated 12 gauge type 304 stainless steel; 316 material can be supplied (when specified)

9700 Series Made from ASTM-A351(CF8) cast equivalent to type 304 rough finished stainless steel; ASTM (CF8M) equivalent to type 316 can be supplied (when specified)
