American Standard Ultra High Efficiency Flush Valves Cut Water Usage 87% and Reduce Maintenance
Ultra high efficiency manual urinal flush valves that cut water consumption by as much as 87 percent are now available from American Standard.
The ADA-compliant line offers interchangeable brass pistons to yield higher water efficiency levels for urinals– 0.5 and 0.125 gallon per flush (gpf) – and feature non-hold open handles that automatically shut off after every flush.
High efficiency and ultra high efficiency models feature FloWise® water-saving technology that conserves between 50percent and 87 percent of the water used by a standard urinal. For example, close to 16,000 gallons of water are saved annually with the 0.125 gpf flush valve versus a standard 1.0 gpf urinal.
The flush valves – available as a urinal/valve system or as an individual valve unit – are engineered to accommodate both new and retrofit installations, in addition to operating under a range of water pressures. The self-cleaning brass piston with a wiper spring prevents clogging and eliminates the need for a filter screen that can become obstructed and require cleaning. Chemical-resistant EPDM seals are unaffected by chloramines and other chemicals, ensuring leak-free operation.
The new piston-operated valves will also save water by remaining shut whenever water pressure is lost and then restored in a building (either because of maintenance or a disruption in the water supply). In contrast, a diaphragm-operated valve will remain open after pressure is restored, causing the water to run continuously in the urinal or toilet.
Suggested list prices range from $210 (for the valve only) to $585, (for the urinal and flush valve). All flush valves are covered by a five-year warranty.
